Meet Alba

From Tracy and Pat

In the summer of 2025, after our final round of IVF was unsuccessful, we made the decision to open our home in a different way and host a foreign exchange student for the school year.

That's when Alba came into our lives. She arrived at 16 and has since turned 17, and welcoming her into our family has been one of the greatest joys and most meaningful experiences we've ever had.

From day one, she became part of our everyday life ~ sharing meals, celebrating milestones, navigating school, and creating memories together. What started as a new experience quickly became something so much more. She became family.

Having Alba in our home deepened our desire to become parents in a way we didn't fully expect. It showed us just how much love, support, and stability we have to give, and how natural it feels to share that with a child. She's even joked about already being an aunt to this future child and that she'll have to make sure it's always Tracy and the baby versus Pat ~ which says everything about the kind of bond we've built.

When we told Alba we were beginning the adoption process and working on our website, she wanted to share a piece of her own perspective, which meant the world to us.

A letter from Alba

I am Alba, a 17 year old exchange student from Spain who spent the 2025-26 school year in New York. Pat and Tracy are the family that hosted me and gave me the opportunity to live this amazing year ~ and I couldn't be more lucky that they picked me. During this whole year, I have seen firsthand how caring, responsible and loving they are.

Since the first day I arrived, they've made me feel at home. Moving to a new country, alone and with a different language can be overwhelming, but they welcomed me with kindness and care. Thanks to them, I never felt like a stranger ~ I felt like part of the family from the beginning.

When they told me they were starting the process to adopt a child, I could only think how great parents they were gonna be. I've only known them for 8 months but I can tell how eager both of them are to expand their family.

Doing this exchange year was an amazing opportunity and it was all possible thanks to Tracy and Pat. Being away from my family and friends has been hard but both of them have made my experience the best and I couldn't ask for a better host family.

I overall think they're great candidates for adoption ~ the child will grow up in a supportive and full of love house. Since day one they've treated me like family, supporting me in all things, coming to all my games, helping me when I needed and taking me to try and see new things from New York and Long Island. If they have a kid I'm 100% sure that child won't lack anything, and Pat and Tracy will support and show their love to them just like they've been doing with me these past months.
